COVID-19 Message

A Message from the Malahat Legion Executive

Covid-19 Being Monitored

Members and Guests of the Malahat Legion

Yesterday the World Health Organization declared coronavirus a global pandemic. While there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia, at this time the risk to British Columbians remains low.

The Legion is taking direction from Island Health on best practices to respond to this evolving situation.  We encourage everyone to keep apprised of any notifications coming from our provincial health authority.

Social Distancing Precautions

As a precaution, we encourage the practice of social distancing, which includes the following:

  • If you are feeling unwell, stay home and avoid public spaces
  • Avoid physical contact by not handshaking or hugging
  • Use proper respiratory etiquette and cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze
  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly
Some Scheduled Events May Be Cancelled

We are closely monitoring the situation and may be canceling several events.  At the present time all events are still on as planned.

What Do I do If I think I have it?

Do not go to the hospital emergency department or a walk-in clinic.  Instead  phone Island Health in Victoria and schedule a test with them. The phone number is 811.

On behalf of the Malahat Legion Executive

Isabelle Hammer, Legion President.
